AMPERA HIGHLIGHTS:
Electric mobility without compromise
The Ampera is a revolutionary electric vehicle delivering everyday mobility without compromise thanks to its extended range propulsion system. It works like this: The Lithium-Ion battery powers the car for the first 40-80 km – enough to cover most European drivers’ daily commute. When the battery runs low, the range extender kicks in. This gasoline-powered generator supplies electricity for another 500 km. Electricity is used to drive the wheels at all times and speeds.
Easy to charge, low on emissions and costs
CO2 emissions are 0 g/km on battery power and 27 g/km with the range extender. The battery can be recharged in just four hours by plugging into any standard socket. Electric driving is cost effective. We estimate that an electrically driven kilometer in the Ampera will cost about one-fifth the price of a kilometer driven in a conventional gasoline-powered vehicle.
Fun to drive
You’ll be surprised how much fun electric driving can be. The nearly silent electric drive unit packs quite a punch with 370 Nm of torque and 111 kW of electric power. That’s the equivalent of 150 hp and gives the Ampera a top speed of 160 kph. You also have full torque from zero speed. A gasoline engine has to rev up to 3000-4000 rpm to reach that performance.
Top level comfort, safety and design
The Ampera offers the space, comfort, and convenience that you expect from a modern car with five doors, four seats and a storage capacity of more than 300 liters. Its high safety standards have been confirmed with a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
With its dynamic, almost aggressive stance, the Ampera may look like a concept car but its sleek aerodynamics are there for good reason: to help maximize the driving range and lower emissions.
